Accessible Viewing Area

Supporters of the carnival procession, southend-based care provider SummerCare, are hosting an Accessible Viewing Area on Southend’s City Beach for people with disabilities or those who wish to watch the procession in a more secure environment.

The Accessible Viewing Area is on a raised platform, closed off from the general public but will still have a fun carnival atmosphere! If you would like to use the Accessible Viewing Area, please contact us to register your free place.

Be Part of Southend Carnival

Southend Carnival Procession is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with the local community, whether you are a business, club, school, group of friends or another organisation – its a lot of fun for everyone who takes part!

If you enter the carnival procession, you can collect donations from the crowd along the way for your choice of charity. And last year a total of almost £6,000 was raised by carnival participants!

One group who entered the carnival in 2016 was Southend RNLI who, as a charity, depend on local support. They took part to raise awareness of the RNLI in Southend, collect vital funds for their ongoing work and have fun whilst doing so. Since entering carnival events in the last 3 years they have raised over £5000.

Southend RNLI said: “We have a great team sprit at Southend Lifeboat Station, but the carnival brings out the best of this. All of us that took part had a lot of fun and enjoyed talking to the crowds that lined the procession.”

Southend RNLI will be entering again in 2017 and already have big plans for their entry. To find out more about their lifesaving work visit their website: www.southendlifeboat.org

There is always strong competition between the carnival procession entrants, with every float and entry being judged and prizes awarded. The best entry is voted for through social media by those who watch the procession itself.

To enter please download an entry pack which will be available from the 1 April 2017 – alternatively email info@southendcarnival.org.uk
